Watching the Olympics…Be careful where you stand
Having discussed who is winning what project for the Olympics, long gone are the large scale projects for the Villages and Stadiums. There is still a massive demand for large screens in the parks around the country so millions can be close to the Olympic action.
The creators of these temporary arenas are requesting thousands of square metres of decking – only they don’t want to pay any money, cutting every corner possible this will most certainly lead to disaster, imagine a few thousand people jump up when their team wins and the deck platform collapses. Organisers have been requesting advice and with budgets of less than £50 for design, materials supply and fit… Concern for what they are going to create is high with an uncertain outcome this situation is worrying.
Structural calculations in accordance with what? Load calculations?
I urge all decking installers to consider the Health and Safety for these cut price projects…
